Black History Youth Awards & Fundraising Dinner 2016
This year's event took place at The Hub, Teesside University on Friday 21st October. Our 3rd Annual Awards Dinner was a huge success and was presented by ITV's Helen Ford and Actress Tanya Vital presented an award to one of the young people.

The Black History Youth Awards arose to address the unique set of challenges facing young black people in Teesside. It seeks to raise aspirations through promoting positive role models, celebrating positive stories rather than focusing on negatives and to promote our mentoring project “It’s You & Me”. Through a prestigious black tie dinner we hope to show young black people that success is achievable and allow them to meet individuals, organizations and businesses to broaden their horizons and further their prospects. We firmly believe in the African adage that “it takes a village to raise a child” and it is this which drives the current initiative.
