Taste Of Africa

This popular non-profit annual event is organised by Cultures CIC promises this year’s event to be bigger than ever; the event will take place in October to coincide with Black History Month. This event is now in its 14th year and has provided a great stage and audience for many up and coming artists from the region and brought high profile African musicians and performers to Teesside.

Cultures CIC has done great work in the area with individuals and groups from BME, Immigrant and Refugee communities as well as having a huge influence on social and cultural integration. Taste of Africa celebrates African culture and the achievements of individuals and organisation who support and work in African and new communities throughout the Tees Valley.

Sade Sangowawa Founder of Taste of Africa said: “Taste of Africa is a vibrant showcase of Africa’s rich heritage and culture. The event now attracts performers from all over the world and this year will be no exception. We’ll have Osun Arts, African drummers, fashions and food to entertain the crowds and we have lots of schools and local businesses taking part.

We are delighted that it has become such a popular occasion across the Tees Valley as there is a large African community in the North East. It’s important that we celebrate this and break down cultural barriers with major events such as Taste of Africa.”

Organisers are currently inviting businesses and organisations to become sponsors of Taste of Africa. A range of opportunities are available. Please contact Sade on 01642 605 838 or email: tasteofafrica.teesside@gmail.com
